Footpad lesions are a true marker of broiler welfare and an increasingly important part of global processing regulations. This module eliminates laborious random feet checks, and instead automates a near-perfect process not influenced by human factors.
Footpad lesions are automatically detected through digital imagery and is graded into one of three categories, according to the Swedish Animal Welfare scored, based on color and lesion size. For each flock, the percentage per class is calculated and registered. Flock scores are collated and put into a database and reports. These reports serve as feedback for the farmers to ultimately improve animal welfare. Healthier birds make produce better yield.
90+% of birds are inspected vs. small, randomized sample
Accurately grades up to 15,000 birds' feet/hr
Process unaffected by human error, improper observations
