Hocks are removed from the bird usually as final step in the slaughtering process. The machine can be integrated in the rehanger slaughter-evisceration or can be installed as a stand alone machine.
The hock/feet cutter is placed in a 90 or 180 degrees curve of the overhead conveyor of the slaughter line. In case of a stand alone machine the birds are dropped and can be rehung manually into the evisceration line. The hock/feet cutter can also be integrated in the rehanger defeathering-evisceration. In this situation the birds are rehung automatically into the evisceration line after cutting the hock or feet from the bird. Birds hanging in shackles of the overhead conveyor are guided into the infeed section of the machine with the breast of the birds towards the center of the machine. The hocks are positioned in the catching wheel, with a shackle guide the hocks are bent just before the rotating knife The rotating knife cuts through the ankle joint to cut off the hocks. It is also possible to cut through the heel and cut of the feet. The hocks or feet keep in the shackle and can be removed with the hock or feet unloader.
