Meyn ready to roll out Rapid Plus M5.0 Breast Deboner worldwide after successful two-year pilot with Norsk Kylling

Oostzaan, The Netherlands — November 2025— Meyn, a global leader in poultry-processing solutions, is ready to roll out its new Rapid Plus M5.0 Breast Deboner worldwide following a successful two-year pilot with Norsk Kylling, one of Norway’s most advanced poultry processors.

During the pilot, Norsk Kylling achieved a yield increase of 4g per fillet compared to its previous Rapid setup — equal to more than 140 tons of additional meat per year. The company also reported lower maintenance costs, quieter operation, and shorter cleaning times thanks to the integrated rinsing system and new mechanical drive. The four-blade wishbone principle and self-adjusting scrapers recover more meat from the wishbone area, enhancing both yield and fillet presentation.

“Thanks to Meyn’s new Rapid technology, we can produce 800,000 extra meals every year — without slaughtering any extra chickens,” said Adam Berk, Head of Cut-up and Deboning at Norsk Kylling. “It’s one of the most important machines in our plant — an icon of innovation.”

Engineering the next generation of Rapid technology

The pilot marks the culmination of 36,000 hours of engineering and field validation, resulting in a new generation of Meyn’s flagship Rapid system. Developed in close cooperation between Meyn engineers and production specialists, the project aimed to improve yield, reliability, and ease of maintenance in breast deboning.

The Rapid Plus M5.0 builds on Meyn’s proven 180-degree carousel design, ensuring precise handling for consistent positioning, extended processing time, and accurate cutting. The system measures breast sizes and approaches every product individually to optimize yield and cutting accuracy.

Its patented four-blade wishbone-removal principle automatically adjusts to each breast, recovering additional fillet yield in the wishbone area. Self-adjusting scraper units follow natural product contours with precision, reducing meat loss and minimizing daily adjustment needs, while the integrated high-pressure rinsing system enhances hygiene and simplifies cleaning. The mechanically driven wishbone-removal principle replaces compressed-air operation, lowering maintenance requirements, improving uptime, and reducing noise levels in the production area.

Collaboration driving innovation

Meyn engineers worked closely with Norsk Kylling’s production and quality teams during installation, testing, and optimization, ensuring the system’s performance was proven under real-world, high-throughput conditions.

“A field trial like this is essential for introducing new technology. It helps us identify true customer value, optimize equipment operation, and validate long-term performance under real production conditions. The insights we gain ensure that every customer worldwide benefits from the same reliable experience.” Jeroen Böhm, Director Innovation Secondary Processing at Meyn

Global deployment begins

With the pilot successfully completed, Meyn is now ready to launch the Rapid Plus M5.0 in key markets worldwide. Production and support capacity have been expanded to ensure smooth delivery across Europe and the Americas, with additional regions to follow as market readiness grows.

“For customers already familiar with the Rapid platform, the M5.0 is a major step forward,” said Robbert Birkhoff, Director of Sales and Projects at Meyn. “It builds on everything that made the Rapid successful, with new technology that pushes yield, uptime, and hygiene to a higher level.”
